Maysville Rotary Club Makes History!

Maysville Rotary Club recently made history.  For the first time in the history of Maysville Rotary (est. 1923), a female, Barb Campbell, was elected President.  Barb is a very energetic member and will continue in the great work of our Past President, Xandy Stewart.  While Xandy was president, our club grew from 42 members to 54 members.  This was not an easy task but one of which Maysville Rotary is very proud.  President Barb is affiliated with Maysville Community and Technical College and is known for her organizational skills, enthusiasm, and leadership.
Our club sponsored a STEP (Short Term Exchange Program) student this year and that is another first for Maysville.  Whitney Allen, a graduate from Mason County 2011, was accepted and is spending 3 weeks in Ecuador.  When she returns, she will be bringing her Ecuador STEP friend to Maysville for a 3week visit.  The two will be speaking at our meeting on August 9th. Whitney will be entering Western KY University this fall, majoring in photo journalism.  She is the daughter of Dr. Peter & Katherine Egan.
Maysville Rotary is now in the midst of planning our Annual Rotary Horse Show to be held on Sept. 10 at the Germantown Fairgrounds.  This has been one of our annual fundraisers for over 40 years.  For more information about this show, call Doug Hendrickson at 606-564-6846 or Xandy Stewart at 606-407-4005.
