The Rotary Club of Lexington received The Unity Award from
the University of Kentucky Chapter of Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity at Monday’s
Unity Breakfast, honoring the late Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Mr. Kevin Weaver, Club President, received
the award on behalf of the Rotary Club.
The plaque reads “In Recognition of Your Efforts in Promoting Dr. King’s
Dream of Unity Within the Lexington Community.”
Fellow Rotarians, Mr. Bill Wilson and Dr. Virginia Carter, also
participated in the breakfast, which was attended by more than 1,000
people. Mr. Wilson brought the Welcome
and Greetings to attendees and introduced the Guest Emcee, Ms. Kristen Pflum,
LEX 18 News 4 PM Anchor. He was also one
of the principal organizers of the event.
Dr. Carter discussed the impact of Dr. King on Humanitarianism and the
fact that “Words Do Matter.” More than
two dozen Rotarians attended the breakfast.
