RC Somerset inspires Rotarians with guest speakers


Recently, RC Somerset was honored to present a speaker from the Danville Advocate, Mr Larry Vaught. Larry is a UK sportswriter and knows most all things related to UK athletics. Among his accolades, Larry was named the 2011 National Sportswriter of the Year by the National Sportscasters and Sportswriters Association. This is the sixth consecutive year he has received the award, and seventh in the last nine years. Larry spoke on the successful UK basketball season, both past, present and future as well as some views on the pigskin season. Larry writes daily on his blog at vaughtsviews.com for the Danville Advocate Messenger, check it out. Larry was the guest of Marvin Kinch.


Jack Keeney, the new Interim Director of God’s Food Pantry, recently spoke to the noon Rotary Club. Mr. Keeney thanked everyone who had donated to God’s Food Pantry in the past and encouraged anyone interested in donating to please do so. He stated that the food bank is at the lowest it has been in nine years. God’s Food Pantry is located at 119 South Central Ave in downtown Somerset.
