From the moment Mary Anne and I were greeted at the
Those
who have had the chance to meet or, as DGN John, to work with RI President
Sakuji know he would be here himself if that were physically possible.
Congratulations,
DG Kathryn, on a year of accomplishments with your Clubs and their
Rotarians! Your Conference has done a
very good job of highlighting these things.
Especially noteworthy to the wider Rotary world are the contributions
many of the leaders make beyond District 6740 to multi-District and Zone AND
Rotary efforts and events. This in no
way diminishes the great benefits the Clubs and Rotarians bring to their more
immediate communities, including your District-wide response to those areas
touched by the tornado in March of last year.
The
Conference has also provided great opportunities for fellowship, one of the
bedrocks of Rotary. The bluegrass group
Friday night certainly got people hopping, including the GSE Team with Team
Leader Jon showing them how!
District
6740 is a fine example to others. You
have Clubs & Rotarians serving their communities in large AND small
ways. You have leaders involved to help
things get done. The commitment of your
District leaders, past, present and future, to keeping the Clubs strong bodes
well for the continuation of this good work.
Again,
Mary Anne and I thank ALL of you for making us feel so welcome! And thank you, DG Kathryn, for your
leadership this year. (And
John for your vital support!!)
Finally,
thank you to all the Rotarians for ALL that you do for Rotary and for your
communities. YOU are the
ones who give life to
PEACE
THROUGH SERVICE.
