In Memory of PDG Bill Henry

Bill Henry passed away at the UK Hospital on Saturday, April 7th. He was a
WW II Army veteran, Georgetown Rotary's Past President from 1963-1964 and
District Governor from 1965-1966, and had a very long perfect attendance
record.

GEORGETOWN - William Keith "Bill" Henry, 95, former State Representative and community leader, died April 7, 2012 at the Thomson-Hood Veterans Center in Wilmore, KY. He was born Sep 15, 1916 to the late Alice Sublett and Dudley Davis Henry. He was the husband of Sarah Tabb Henry, father of Mary Keith Henry (Eugie) Mintu, and grandfather to Maya, Amelia, and Sophia Mintu. A native of Scott County, he graduated from Garth High School and Georgetown College, where he belonged to Pi Kappa Alpha fraternity. He was in the U.S. Army, serving overseas in World War II. After his discharge he began buying and developing property, building houses, and farming. He served six terms in the Kentucky House of Representatives for Scott and Harrison Counties. A lifelong Democrat, he chaired the Scott County Democratic Party for 12 years. He was active in the Georgetown Rotary Club where he served as President and maintained perfect attendance for 60 years prior to being named an Honorary Member in 2010. The club's Outstanding Rotarian of the Year Award is named in his honor. He served as Governor of District 6740. He was past President and lifetime Director in the Scott County Farm Bureau, Noble Grand of the Golden Rule Lodge IOOF, and past Commander of American Legion Post 24. He was a member of the Georgetown/Scott County Chamber of Commerce and the Captain Charles Scott Chapter, Sons of the American Revolution. He was inducted into the Scott County Schools Hall of Fame, and the Scott County Democratic Party Hall of Fame. He received the SAR Distinguished Service Award as well as the Scott County Farm- City Pioneer Businessman Award. He was an elder in the First Presbyterian Church. In addition to enjoying his family and many friends, he loved to travel, swim, and University of Kentucky sports events. He was preceded in death by sister, Carrie Davis Nutter Barnes, brother, John Lewis Henry and nephews, James C. Nutter and William "Rock" Nutter. Visitation is 5-8pm Tue, April 10, 2012 at Tucker, Yocum, & Wilson Funeral Home, 320 West Main Street, Georgetown. Funeral services are 11am Wed, April 11, 2012 at First Presbyterian Church, 317 East Main Street, Georgetown with Rev. Gaither E. Bailey conducting the service. Burial will be in Georgetown Cemetery with military rites. Pallbearers will be Rick Nutter, Keith Nutter, Jimmy Richardson, Dudley Mattingly, Sam Pollock, and L.G. Dawson. Honorary bearers include members of the Georgetown Rotary Club, Lewis "Johnny" Simmons, Bill Skinner, Joe Hoffman, Charlie Hoffman, William B. Bevins, Dr. Ray Alexander, Tom Sturgill, Dr. Dennis Penn, Bobby Vance, Billy Brannock, Judge George Lusby and Raymond Morrison.
